SKINKACHU PROJECT
Who is Slinkachu?
There was a project started in 2006 called 'Little People Project' which was made by Slinkachu. Slinkachu remodels and paints miniature characters, which he then places on the streets and takes photographs of his work and then leaves his miniature models on the street. It is a street art installation project and a photography project. He aims to encourage the public so we are more aware of their surroundings. He aimed to reflect the loneliness of living in a big city but he claims that there is always some humour behind his work. He also wanted people to be able to empathise with the tiny people in his works.
What do I think about this?
In my opinion I think that his work is amazing, not to say inspirational and that people would love to recreate his work as well as doing photography in similar ways. Slinkachu brought a whole new meaning to the world of photography. I think that this is astounding.

MY FIRST SLINKACHU SHOOT
This is the first shoot I have completed in my Slinkachu project. I had an idea of the car and the Slinkachu under the rain pouring down from above. As the rain became very heavy and the conditions were to harsh for a photoshoot without suitable clothing I came up with an idea of a virtual type of image by using a computer or tablet (iPad) as a backdrop and then placing the props in front of it. This has given me an insight to how photographers have to battle the elements to get the perfect shoot and extra preparation and precautions I must take next time to be able to continue the photoshoot as planned.
My Best and Worst Pictures from Shoot One
BestI think that this image is my best shot because the car is in focus and also the man under the car is in focus. The backdrop has been blurred out. The exposure and lighting shows the true colours of the car and the figures, also a small depth of field makes the objects stand out.
|
WorstI think that this image is my worst shot because the car and figures seem like they're in the wrong position but they're not as it's the same position as the one in the best shot. The camera is in the wrong place. You cannot see the figures clearly as well as the car because the image is out of focus. The viewer wouldn't be able to interpret the image for what it is and what is happening in the scene. It is slightly over exposed

MY SECOND SLINKACHU SHOOT
MY BEST AND WORST PICTURES FROM SHOOT TWO
BestI think that this image is my best shot because the figures and the small plant is in focus. Rule of Thirds have been used and the first third and the last third (top third and bottom third) have been blurred out and out of focus. The exposure and lighting shows that everything is natural also a small depth of field makes the workers and there work station stand out.
|
WorstThis is image was shot to show how small and tiny the figures were as well as to show the surroundings and the fact that it can be done anywhere. I think that this image is my worst shot because the photo was under exposed which makes it seem dark and dull. Due to this you cannot see the figures clearly. The viewer wouldn't be satisfied with this as you can barely see anything and the quality isn't appealing.

MY THIRD SLINKACHU SHOOT
In my third shoot I will be doing a shoot of a mini figure doing a mountain climb or of them reaching the summit as well as the backdrop being an image of the sunset or a similar concept. I will use an item to form a mountain.
MY BEST AND WORST PICTURES FROM SHOOT THREE
BestThis is my favourite picture from them all because of the quality of the image. The sun has a nice glow and shine and the sunset also has a nice effect. The men are in focus and using the rule of thirds helps to bring out the image, the landscape position has a great effect on the image.
|
WorstI consider this as my worst picture because the main areas are out of focus and you can see that there is a wall behind and this wall shouldn't be in the shot. This slinkachu wasn't successful because of these reasons.

Summary
I think overall I have presented this webpage in a neat layout and showed how my work progresses and my creativity begins to expand in many different directions. I have showed many skills such as using the rule of thirds and white balance as well as many other skills but I have a feeling that I could maybe take the next step forward for my next and upcoming project.
